President Trump’s former campaign manager allegedly ran up tax bill from 2010 to 2014.
An agent for the Internal Revenue Service testified in federal court that Paul Manafort, the political consultant who formerly ran Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, accumulated $16.5 million in unreported taxable income from 2010 to 2014.
Manafort’s trial, part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation that President Trump has termed a “witch hunt,” involves a variety of financial crimes, including charges that the political consultant stashed millions in overseas bank accounts.
The government alleges that from 2010 through 2014, Manafort earned more than $30 million, but he reported to the IRS only $13.8 million. During that period of time, he spent more than $16 million on personal expenses.
